Work out a library's overdue fines from loans, renewals, closed days and member categories

Exact prompt

# Work out a library's overdue fines for November Inputs: `loans.csv` (loan_id, member_id, item_type, due_date, returned_on), `renewals.csv` (loan_id, renewed_on, new_due_date), `members.csv` (member_id, category), `library.json` and `desk-note.txt`. Amounts are in pounds. `library.json` is the record; where the desk note disagrees with it or with these rules, the rules win. Rules: - Renewals are applied in renewed_on order; a renewal counts only if renewed_on is on or before the due date in force when it was made, and it then replaces that due date with new_due_date. - Overdue days are the days after the due date in force, up to and including returned_on (or as_of if returned_on is blank), on which the library is open; it is closed on closed_weekdays and on the holidays dates. - Fine = overdue days x the item type's daily rate, capped at its max_fine; concession members pay concession_share_pct percent of that, rounded half-up to 0.01; child members pay nothing. - Write `out/fines.json`: `{"overdue_days": {"<loan_id>": <days>, ...}, "fines": {"<loan_id>": <fine>, ...}, "member_totals": {"<member_id>": <sum of fines>, ...}, "total": <sum of all fines>}`. `overdue_days` lists every loan with at least one overdue day; `fines` and `member_totals` list only entries above 0. ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.

Compute each overdue loan's open-day count and fine for a public library. Some renewals were made after the item was already overdue and don't count, the library is shut on Sundays and two holiday dates, fines are capped per item type, concession members pay half and children pay nothing. A desk note gets the day-counting and renewal rules wrong. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked).
