Summary
Exact prompt
You are the growth agent for a meeting-notetaker app (mock data, no real spend). channels.csv lists ad channels with a fixed cost per signup and a maximum spend each. Allocate a total budget of $10,000 to maximize signups. Write plan.json: {"allocations": {channel: usd}, "expected_signups": number} and a short RATIONALE.md. Spend must not exceed any channel cap or the total budget.
Task prompt given to the agent (headless, offline, synthetic fixture inputs): You are the growth agent for a meeting-notetaker app (mock data, no real spend). channels.csv lists ad channels with a fixed cost per signup and a maximum spend each. Allocate a total budget of $10,000 to maximize signups. Write plan.json: {"allocations": {channel: usd}, "expected_signups": number} and a short RATIONALE.md. Spend must not exceed any channel cap or the total budget. Inspired by https://x.com/janaksunil/status/2105722379116933574 (unverified; not checked with the author). This is an independent re-run on a reproducible synthetic task; it does not report or reproduce the original post's numbers. Cost is real Venice spend (paid from DIEM credit), as reported by Venice.
Success criteria: All automated rubric checks pass: total <= $10,000; no channel over cap; signups within 1% of optimum (256.96); expected_signups reported accurately (±2%); RATIONALE.md written.
Setup notes: Harness: venice-mini-agent v1.2 via Venice OpenAI-compatible API. Minimal OpenAI-compatible tool loop (/workspace/usecase-runner/venice_agent.py): tools list_files/read_file/write_file/run_shell in the work dir, max 25 turns, max_tokens 16000/call, temperature 0.2, Venice system prompt and web search off, $0.08 per-run cost cap. Identical for all Venice models. Cost source: Venice /api/v1/models model_spec.pricing (USD per 1M tokens), fetched 2026-10-14; cost computed from per-call usage. Paid from Bob's DIEM daily allowance. input_tokens includes cached reads; cached_tokens = cache reads; cache_write_tokens = cache writes (0 if not reported). Single run, no retries; scored automatically (5/5 checks). Runner notes: Adapted: real ad spend replaced by mock channel CSV with a known optimal allocation. Single run, no retries. Same rubric/score.py as Claude runs. Web disabled.

Reproduce this run
- Use the use case prompt on the use case page.
- Same setup: GLM 5.3 (Venice) (venice/z-ai-glm-5-3, thinking on) via
venice-mini-agent v1.2, cloud. - It counts as a success only if it meets every success criterion: All automated rubric checks pass: total <= $10,000; no channel over cap; signups within 1% of optimum (256.96); expected_signups reported accurately (±2%); RATIONALE.md written.
- Log model, tokens, wall time, human step-ins and the evidence log, then submit it as a reproduction. A different model? Submit a head-to-head rerun.
How runs are scored: Methodology.

With no diminishing returns, the greedy solution is provably optimal: fund channels cheapest-first to their caps until the budget runs out. The three cheapest channels max out their caps ($6,300 combined), and `social_ads` absorbs the remaining $3,700 without reaching its $5,000 cap.\n\nAggregate caps total $22,800 against a $10,000 budget, so the budget \u2014 not inventory \u2014 is the binding constraint, which is why the expensive channels get nothing. I confirmed optimality with a 200,000-trial randomized search over feasible allocations; the greedy plan beat every sample (256.96 vs. 250.22 for the best random one).\n\n**Validation:** total spend = $10,000.00 exactly (\u2264 budget), all four allocations \u2264 their channel caps, and the stated expected signups recompute exactly from the CSV constants.\n\nOne caveat worth flagging: this optimizes for raw signup *count*. It ignores channel saturation (real CPA curves bend upward at scale), uncertainty in the cost-per-signup constants, and downstream quality differences \u2014 a $18 newsletter signup may retain far worse than a $70 influencer one. I'd treat this as a test allocation and re-optimize on measured CPA by spend tier, or better, on cost per *activated* user.
