Summary

Exact prompt

# October night audit for a hotel Inputs: `reservations.csv` (one row per saved version of each reservation), `fx.csv` (USD per unit of each currency, published on business days only). Rules: - For each res_id only the version with the latest `modified_at` counts. - A stay's nights are the dates from checkin up to but not including checkout. Report only nights from 2026-10-01 to 2026-10-31. - Each night's room revenue in USD = rate_per_night x the USD rate for that night's date, rounded half-up to the cent. When fx.csv has no rate for a date, use the most recent earlier date's rate. USD rates are 1. - status "cancelled": nothing counts. status "no_show": only the stay's first night is charged (if it falls in October); it is not an occupied room and pays no city tax. - City tax = 2.50 USD per guest per night, only for the first 7 nights of each stay (counted from checkin, even if they fall before October), for confirmed stays. - adr_usd = room revenue of confirmed nights / number of confirmed room-nights, rounded half-up to the cent. Write `out/audit.json`: `{"nights": {"<YYYY-MM-DD>": {"rooms_occupied": <int>, "room_revenue_usd": <n>}, ...all 31 dates}, "city_tax_usd": <n>, "adr_usd": <n>, "no_show_revenue_usd": <n>}`. rooms_occupied counts confirmed stays only; room_revenue_usd includes no-show charges. ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.

Rebuild nightly occupancy and USD room revenue for October from 1,000-2,000 versioned reservation rows. The latest version counts by modification time, not version number. Each night converts at that date's FX rate, falling back to the last business day on weekends and gaps. No-shows pay one night, and city tax stops after the seventh night of a stay, even when the stay began in September. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked).

Success criteria: rooms_occupied room_revenue_by_night weekend_fx_fallback city_tax_7_night_cap adr no_show_first_night

Setup notes: Batch 17 case s05-hotel-night-audit (offline, synthetic inputs, seed 2983230116). Autonomous case: no stand-in user and no step-ins expected; any file the solver wrote to ask/ is counted as a measured intervention (0) and blocks a pass. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Hidden key kept outside the solver's work dir. Scored with the case's scorer (python3 score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR, absolute paths); pass = every check true and no ask/ files. Tools: Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash, web disabled. Single run, no retries. 1-min load average at scoring 0.09 (8 cores). Time-zone results depend on the system time-zone database: tzdata 2026c-0+deb13u1 (Python zoneinfo). Claude Code's own reported cost for claude-haiku-5.5: $0.012003. Score: 6/6. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured tokens x pricing.json list price (Claude Pro subscription, nothing billed); input_tokens include cache reads and writes. Single run.

Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

Reproduce this run

  1. Use the use case prompt on the use case page.
  2. Same setup: Claude Haiku 5.5 (anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5, effort default (no --effort flag) · thinking on) via Claude Code 2.1.299 (headless -p), cloud.
  3. It counts as a success only if it meets every success criterion: rooms_occupied room_revenue_by_night weekend_fx_fallback city_tax_7_night_cap adr no_show_first_night
  4. Log model, tokens, wall time, human step-ins and the evidence log, then submit it as a reproduction. A different model? Submit a head-to-head rerun.

"result": "I wrote `out/audit.json` with all 31 October dates and the four totals. I checked the structure and totals, but not against an independent calculation.\n\nResults:\n- **City tax:** 10,755.00 USD\n- **ADR:** 256.37 USD (524,796.44 confirmed revenue over 2,047 confirmed room-nights)\n- **No-show revenue:** 11,698.87 USD\n- **Confirmed room-nights in October:** 2,047\n\nHow I applied the rules:\n- **Latest version:** the version with the greatest `modified_at` per `res_id`, giving 892 reservations. Every latest version has checkout after checkin. The 107 zero- or negative-length rows are older versions only, so they never reach the count.\n- **Rates:** the rate and FX fields are fractions such as `2211/20`, so I used exact fractions. Each night is rounded half-up to the cent. Missing FX dates fall back to the most recent earlier published rate.\n- **City tax:** I counted only the first 7 nights of each confirmed stay that fall in October, and charged 2.50 USD \u00d7 guests for each. The tax is a flat USD amount, not converted. Nights before October still count toward the 7, as the rules say. If the intended reading is that tax covers all 7 nights including pre-October ones, the tax figure would differ.\n- **No-shows:** only the first night is charged, and only if it falls in October. It adds to `room_revenue_usd` but not `rooms_occupied`.\n\nThe scripts are in `/tmp/audit_scripts/`, outside `out/`. I did not write anything to `ask/`.",
