Summary
Exact prompt
Sandboxed mock (no real messaging). feed/poll_00.json .. poll_05.json are successive snapshots of a mock ESPN scoreboard, one per 30-minute poll. Write notifier.py that processes the polls in order (simulating each poll) and sends every match's final result exactly once to the Signal group "wc-friends" using: python3 signal_send.py wc-friends "<text>" (text format: "FINAL: <match> <score>"). A match counts as final when status starts with "final". Keep state so repeated polls never resend. Run it once over all polls, then run it again to prove no duplicates are sent.
Task prompt given to the agent (headless, offline, synthetic fixture inputs): Sandboxed mock (no real messaging). feed/poll_00.json .. poll_05.json are successive snapshots of a mock ESPN scoreboard, one per 30-minute poll. Inspired by https://agentusecases.ai (listing: 'Text every World Cup final score to a friends' Signal group', github.com source) (unverified; not checked with the author). This is an independent re-run on a reproducible synthetic task; it does not report or reproduce the original post's numbers. Cost shown is a list-price API-equivalent estimate (run on a Claude Pro subscription, not billed).
Success criteria: All automated rubric checks pass: exactly 3 messages (no duplicates after rerun); messages match expected text and order; all to wc-friends; notifier.py exists.
Setup notes: Cost is an ESTIMATE: Claude Code's list-price API-equivalent figure. The run used a Claude Pro subscription, so nothing was billed. input_tokens = all input incl. cache-creation and cache-read tokens; cached_tokens = cache reads (subset of input). Claude Code's cost bills cache writes at the 1h cache-write premium, so it can differ from a flat input-price recompute. Web disabled; tools Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash; single run; scored automatically (4/4 checks).
Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

Reproduce this run
- Use the use case prompt on the use case page.
- Same setup: Claude Opus 5.5 (anthropic/claude-opus-5.5) via
Claude Code 2.1.299 (headless -p), cloud. - It counts as a success only if it meets every success criterion: All automated rubric checks pass: exactly 3 messages (no duplicates after rerun); messages match expected text and order; all to wc-friends; notifier.py exists.
- Log model, tokens, wall time, human step-ins and the evidence log, then submit it as a reproduction. A different model? Submit a head-to-head rerun.

"result": "I wrote `notifier.py` and ran it twice. Each final result went to \"wc-friends\" exactly once, and the second run sent nothing.\n\n**Run 1** went through `poll_00` to `poll_05` in order and sent 3 messages:\n- poll_01: `FINAL: ARG vs FRA 2-1`\n- poll_03: `FINAL: BRA vs ENG 2-1`\n- poll_04: `FINAL: ESP vs GER 1-1 (4-3 pens)`. This match's status is `final_pens`, which still counts because it starts with \"final\".\n\nMatches that were already final in later polls were skipped, so nothing repeated within the run.\n\n**Run 2** read the same six polls, sent 0 messages and reported 3 matches already notified. `outbox.jsonl` has exactly 3 lines, one per match.\n\n**How it works:**\n- The state is kept in `notifier_state.json`, keyed by match name. A match is recorded straight after its send succeeds, and the file is replaced in one step, so a crash can't leave it half-written.\n- It calls `signal_send.py` with a plain argument list rather than through a shell, so text in the feed can't run as a command.\n- If a send fails, the script stops and that match isn't recorded, so the next run retries it.\n\n**Limitations:**\n- **Teams playing each other twice:** the feed has no match ID or date, so I key on the match name. A later game between the same two teams would be wrongly skipped. If the real ESPN feed has an event ID, that should be the key instead.\n- **A rare duplicate is still possible:** if the script dies after a message is sent but before the state is saved, the next run would send that result again. Closing that gap would need the sender to reject duplicates itself.\n- **Score corrections:** a score corrected after a match is final would not be re-sent.\n\nTo test from scratch again, delete `notifier_state.json` and `outbox.jsonl`.",
