Summary
Exact prompt
# Invoice a nursery's families for October 2026 Inputs: `children.csv` (child id, family id, date of birth), `attendance.csv` (hours each child attended each day in October 2026) and `fees.json`. Invoice rules: - Funded hours: a child who was 3 or older on 2026-09-01 gets up to `funded_hours_per_week` hours free in each Monday-to-Sunday week (the part-week 1-4 October counts as a week); unused funded hours don't carry to another week. - Charged hours = attended hours minus funded hours used; hours fee = charged hours x `hourly_rate`. - Sibling discount: `sibling_discount_pct` off the hours fee (not meals) of every child in a family except the oldest child who attended in October. - Meals: `meal_per_day` for each day attended. - Each child's total = hours fee after discount + meals, rounded half-up to the cent. A family's total is the sum of its children's rounded totals. Write `out/invoices.json`: `{"funded_hours_used": {"<child_id>": <hours>, ...}, "child_totals": {"<child_id>": <total>, ...}, "family_totals": {"<family_id>": <total>, ...}}` for every child and family that attended in October. ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.
Bill each family at a day nursery for October from daily attendance. Children aged 3 by the start of term get a weekly allowance of free hours that does not roll over, younger siblings get a discount on their hours fee but not their meals, and totals are rounded per child. Pooling the free hours over the month, judging age on the invoice date or skipping the sibling discount each change the invoices. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked).
Success criteria: funded_weekly eligibility_date sibling_discount child_totals
Setup notes: Batch 23 case y04-nursery-funded-hours (offline, synthetic inputs, seed 1223817268). Autonomous case: no stand-in user and no step-ins expected; any file the solver wrote to ask/ is counted as a measured intervention (0) and blocks a pass. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Hidden key kept outside the solver's work dir. Scored with the case's scorer (python3 score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR, absolute paths); pass = every check true and no ask/ files. Tools: Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash, web disabled. Single run, no retries. 1-min load average at scoring 0.36 (8 cores). Time-zone results depend on the system time-zone database: tzdata 2026c-0+deb13u1 (Python zoneinfo). Claude Code's own reported cost for claude-sonnet-5.5: $0.06482. Score: 4/4. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured tokens x pricing.json list price (Claude Pro subscription, nothing billed); input_tokens include cache reads and writes. Single run.
Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

"result": "I wrote `out/invoices.json`. It has funded hours used, child totals and family totals for the 14 children and 8 families that attended in October. I didn't compare the figures against an independent calculation.\n\n- **Funded hours:** a child is eligible if their date of birth is on or before 2023-09-01, which means they were 3 or older on 2026-09-01. Eligible children get up to 15 free hours in each Monday-to-Sunday week, with 1\u20134 October counted as one week. Unused hours don't carry over.\n- **Sibling discount:** the 12% comes off the hours fee only. It applies to every child in a family except the one with the earliest date of birth among those who attended.\n- **F930:** C244 is in this family but didn't attend, so they aren't invoiced. C209 (born 2022) is the oldest attender and gets no discount; C207 does.\n- **Rounding:** all money maths used exact decimals. Each child's total is rounded half-up to the cent, and a family's total is the sum of those rounded totals.\n- **Input checks:** the attendance file had no duplicate child-and-date rows. I didn't check for zero hours or dates outside October.",
