Summary
Exact prompt
# Charge a council's residents' parking permits for the rest of the scheme year Inputs: `permits.csv` (permit_id, household, reg, co2_gkm, fuel, start_date, cancelled_on, status), `charges.json`, `blue-badges.csv` (household) and `office-note.txt`. Amounts are in pounds. `charges.json` and these rules are the record; where the office note disagrees, the rules win. Rules: - Permits with status refused are ignored. Households match ignoring letter case and surrounding spaces; report them in upper case. - A car's band is the first band in charges.json whose max_co2 is at least co2_gkm (a car exactly on a limit stays in that band; max_co2 null is the top band). Electric cars are band "electric" and free. - Diesel cars add diesel_surcharge to the band's annual price. - A permit is charged annual price x days / days_in_year, counting days from start_date to cancelled_on (or scheme_year_end), both included. - In each household, non-electric permits are ordered by start_date (ties by the permit number); every permit after the first costs additional_permit_pct percent more. - A household in blue-badges.csv pays nothing for its first non-electric permit only. - Each permit's charge is rounded half-up to 0.01 at the end. Write `out/permits.json`: `{"band": {"<permit_id>": "<band>", ...}, "charge": {"<permit_id>": <charge>, ...}, "household_totals": {"<HOUSEHOLD>": <sum>, ...}, "total": <sum of charges>}` covering every permit that is not refused. ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.
Price a street's residents' parking permits for the rest of the scheme year. Cars sit exactly on band limits, diesel adds a surcharge, days are counted with both ends included, second permits cost more but permit numbers sort differently as text and as numbers, households are written in mixed case and spacing, and a blue badge only covers the first permit. An office note gets the band edge, day count and badge rules wrong. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked).
Success criteria: bands pro_rata household_order_and_badges totals
Setup notes: Batch 30 case o02-residents-parking-permits (offline, synthetic inputs, seed 2470817326). Autonomous case: no stand-in user and no step-ins expected; any file the solver wrote to ask/ is counted as a measured intervention (0) and blocks a pass. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Hidden key kept outside the solver's work dir. Scored with the case's scorer (python3 score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR, absolute paths); pass = every check true and no ask/ files. Tools: Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash, web disabled. Single run, no retries. 1-min load average at scoring 0.60 (8 cores). Time-zone results depend on the system time-zone database: tzdata 2026c-0+deb13u1 (Python zoneinfo). Claude Code's own reported cost for claude-haiku-5.5: $0.006206. Score: 4/4. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured tokens x pricing.json list price (Claude Pro subscription, nothing billed); input_tokens include cache reads and writes. Single run.
Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

The total is \u00a3229.45.\n\n| Household | Permits | Charge |\n|---|---|---|\n| 2 ELM ROW | RP-26, RP-28, RP-23 | \u00a3101.78 |\n| 27 DALE AVE | RP-11 | \u00a30.00 (blue badge, first permit) |\n| 60 COBDEN RD | RP-9, RP-38, RP-18 | \u00a3116.16 (RP-9 free as first permit) |\n| 66 BELL ST | RP-17 | \u00a311.51 |\n| 27 FIR CLOSE | RP-15 (electric) | \u00a30.00 |\n\nChoices I made where the inputs left room:\n\n- **Surcharge on later permits:** I applied the 100% premium to each permit after the first, not compounding it. So the second and third permits in a household both cost double their base, not double and then triple. If the office meant compounding, the ELM ROW and COBDEN RD figures would change.\n- **Office note conflicts:** The note says a car exactly on a limit moves up a band, and that all blue-badge permits are free. The rules say the opposite on both points, so I followed the rules. Only the first non-electric permit per blue-badge household is free.\n- **Tie-break:** Permits with the same start date were ordered by numeric permit number, so RP-9 comes before RP-38.\n- **Day count:** Days run from start date to the scheme year end, both included, so 2026-11-04 gives 148 days.\n\nThe calculation script is in `/tmp/permit-calc/calc.py`, outside the inputs. I checked its results by hand against the rules, and they agree.",
