Summary
Exact prompt
# Work out a veterinary practice's dispensed tablets and charges from weight-based doses, tablet splitting and a wellness-plan discount Inputs: `patients.csv` (patient_id, client_id, species, weight, weight_unit, wellness_plan), `drugs.json` (per drug: mg_per_kg, strength_mg, splittable, unit_price), `prescriptions.csv` (rx_line, patient_id, drug, doses_per_day, days) and `fees.json` (dispensing_fee, plan_pct). All clients and animals are synthetic; amounts are in dollars. These rules are the practice's policy; where `nurse-note.txt` disagrees, the rules win. Rules: - Weight: weight_unit lb converts to kg at 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg (don't round the result). - Dose: dose_mg = mg_per_kg × weight in kg. Tablets per dose = dose_mg / strength_mg rounded to the nearest 0.5 tablet if the drug is splittable, otherwise to the nearest whole tablet (exact halves round up), and never less than 0.5 tablet (splittable) or 1 tablet (not splittable). - Quantity: tablets dispensed = tablets per dose × doses_per_day × days, rounded up to a whole tablet. - Price: medication = tablets dispensed × unit_price. A patient on the wellness plan (wellness_plan yes) gets plan_pct percent off the medication, rounded half-up to the cent; the plan never discounts the dispensing fee. Line total = medication − discount + dispensing_fee. - Write `out/dispensing.json`: `{"lines": {"<rx_line>": {"tablets_per_dose": <number>, "tablets": <whole number>, "medication": <dollars>, "discount": <dollars>, "total": <dollars>}, ...}, "clients": {"<client_id>": <sum of that client's line totals>, ...}}`. ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.
Turn a synthetic veterinary practice's prescriptions into dispensed quantities and charges. Some weights are in pounds, doses are weight-based and rounded to whole or half tablets with a minimum, courses are rounded up to whole tablets, and wellness-plan members get a discount on medication but not on the dispensing fee. A nurse's note gets the unit, rounding and discount rules wrong. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked).
Success criteria: weight_units dose_rounding quantity plan_pricing client_invoices
Setup notes: Batch 36 case tx01-vet-dosing-dispensing (offline, synthetic inputs, seed 2299716447). Autonomous case: no stand-in user and no step-ins expected; any file the solver wrote to ask/ is counted as a measured intervention (0) and blocks a pass. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Hidden key kept outside the solver's work dir. Scored with the case's scorer (python3 score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR, absolute paths); pass = every check true and no ask/ files. Tools: Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash, web disabled. Single run, no retries. 1-min load average at scoring 1.08 (8 cores). Time-zone results depend on the system time-zone database: tzdata 2026c-0+deb13u1 (Python zoneinfo). Thinking was on for this run (same configuration as the rest of the batch) but used 0 thinking tokens; corrected Oct 24, 2026 from false, which had been derived from token usage. Claude Code's own reported cost for claude-sonnet-5.5: $0.054683. Score: 5/5. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured tokens x pricing.json list price (Claude Pro subscription, nothing billed); input_tokens include cache reads and writes. Single run.
Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

I didn't run any separate check on the numbers beyond reading the script's output.\n\nI followed the written rules and ignored `nurse-note.txt`, as the task says to. The note's four suggestions (treat all weights as kilos, round doses down, discount the whole line, round tablet counts normally) all contradict the rules.\n\nThe amounts are large, up to $11,542.74 for one line, because the inputs call for them. For example, RL-134 is a 85 lb dog on meloxicam at 3 doses a day for 28 days, which comes to 7,140 tablets. I didn't change anything to make the figures look more plausible.\n\nClient totals:\n\n| Client | Total |\n|---|---|\n| VC-3025 | $113.87 |\n| VC-3011 | $4,697.66 |\n| VC-3018 | $18,149.00 |\n\nI didn't write anything to `ask/`, and nothing was fetched from the network.",
