Summary

Exact prompt

# Invoice a bakery's wholesale cafe customers for November Inputs: `orders.csv` (every revision of every order: order_id, rev, cafe, delivery_date, item, qty), `prices.csv` (item prices with the date each takes effect), `returns.csv` (unsold goods sent back against an order), `cafes.json` (each cafe's tier) and `manager-summary.txt`. Every amount is in pounds. The files are the record; where a summary disagrees with them, the files win. Rules: - Only the highest revision of each order_id counts; rev is a whole number, so rev 10 comes after rev 9. A highest revision with qty 0 cancels the order. - Charge each order at the prices.csv row for its item with the latest effective_from on or before the delivery_date. - Credit each return at the unit price its order was charged; returns against cancelled orders get no credit. - Gold cafes get 7.5% off goods minus credits, rounded half-up to the penny; other cafes get no discount. - Amount due = goods - credits - discount. Write `out/invoices.json`: `{"orders": {"<order_id>": <final qty>, ...} (counted orders only, cancelled ones left out), "goods": {"<cafe>": <sum of qty x unit price>, ...}, "credits": {...}, "discount": {...}, "due": {...}, "grand_total": <sum of due>}` with every cafe in `cafes.json` in each cafe map (0 where nothing applies). ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.

Build monthly invoices for cafes that buy from a bakery. Orders were revised several times (revision numbers run past 9, and a final revision can cancel), prices change mid-month with one rise announced for later, returns are credited at the price charged, and gold cafes get a discount on the net amount. A summary note in the inputs gets the price change and revision handling wrong. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked).

Setup notes: Batch 27 case c01-bakery-wholesale-invoices (offline, synthetic inputs, seed 1156320787). Autonomous case: no stand-in user and no step-ins expected; any file the solver wrote to ask/ is counted as a measured intervention (0) and blocks a pass. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Hidden key kept outside the solver's work dir. Scored with the case's scorer (python3 score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR, absolute paths); pass = every check true and no ask/ files. Tools: Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash, web disabled. Single run, no retries. 1-min load average at scoring 0.26 (8 cores). Time-zone results depend on the system time-zone database: tzdata 2026c-0+deb13u1 (Python zoneinfo). Claude Code's own reported cost for claude-opus-5.5: $0.152107. Score: 4/4. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured tokens x pricing.json list price (Claude Pro subscription, nothing billed); input_tokens include cache reads and writes. Single run.

Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

Where the summary and the input files disagree I went with the files, as the task says to.\n\n| Cafe | Tier | Goods | Credits | Discount | Due |\n|---|---|---|---|---|---|\n| Mill Street Cafe | standard | 642.30 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 642.30 |\n| Bramble Cafe | standard | 161.97 | 6.66 | 0.00 | 155.31 |\n| The Copper Kettle | gold | 235.24 | 0.00 | 17.64 | 217.60 |\n| Hillside Kitchen | gold | 546.96 | 25.97 | 39.07 | 481.92 |\n| Oak Table | gold | 159.15 | 0.00 | 11.94 | 147.21 |\n\nThere are 18 counted orders. ORD-151 is left out because its latest revision has qty 0, which cancels it.\n\n**Where the files and the manager's summary disagree:**\n- **Revisions:** The summary says to use the last line in the file for each order. I used the highest revision number instead, comparing them as numbers so rev 10 and 11 come after rev 9. For example, ORD-170 rev 11 has qty 24, but a line for its rev 9 (qty 45) appears further down the file.\n- **Prices:** The summary says all prices went up on 2026-11-16. In `prices.csv` only bagel, seeded batch and rye loaf change that day. Croissant, cinnamon bun and sourdough loaf stay at their January prices. Orders delivered before the 16th use the old prices.\n- **Grand total:** The \u00a31123 figure doesn't match. A likely cause is the two shortcuts above.\n\n**Returns:** All three returns get credit, at the price their order was charged:\n- RET-30 is 9 seeded batch against ORD-117, at \u00a30.74.\n- RET-36 is 5 rye loaves against ORD-170, at \u00a31.27.\n- RET-33 is 6 croissants against ORD-158, at \u00a33.27. ORD-158 has only one revision and is a valid order.\n\nI calculated in exact decimals and rounded the gold discounts half-up to the penny. The script is at `/tmp/s/inv.py`.",
