Summary
Exact prompt
# Which vendor contracts need a non-renewal decision soon? Inputs: `contracts.csv`, `amendments.csv` and `calendar.json` (today's date and public holidays). Today is the date in `calendar.json`. For every contract that auto-renews, find the current term's end date and the last day on which a non-renewal notice can still be given. - A term of N months starting on date S ends the day before S plus N months. If that month is shorter, S plus N months falls on its last day (so 31 January plus 1 month is 28 or 29 February). - A contract renews for its renewal term each time a term ends, so the current term is the one that contains today. Each renewal term starts on the day after the previous term ends. - Notice must arrive at least the notice period before the term ends: the deadline is the end date minus the notice period. Periods are in days, months (same month rule as above) or business days (Monday to Friday, not holidays; count back from the end date, not counting the end date itself). - Only signed amendments change a contract; a later signed amendment to the same field replaces an earlier one, by effective date. - If the current term's deadline has already passed, the contract will renew: report the next term instead (its end date and deadline). Write `out/renewals.json`: `{"contracts": {"<contract_id>": {"term_end": "YYYY-MM-DD", "notice_deadline": "YYYY-MM-DD"}, ...}, "decide_within_30_days": [<ids whose reported deadline is from today to today + 30 days inclusive, sorted>], "missed_current_term": [<ids whose current-term deadline has passed, sorted>]}`. Leave contracts that don't auto-renew out of `contracts`. ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.
Work out the current term end and notice deadline for 18-24 auto-renewing contracts as of a fixed date. Notice periods mix days, months and business days with holidays, several start on the 29th-31st, amendments include drafts that must not apply, and some deadlines have already passed so the next term is the one to report. Thirty-day months, applying drafts, or treating business days as calendar days each change the answer. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked). Folder-restore note: this run's output files under work/out/ were lost in a 1:22 AM ET restore on Oct 21, 2026. The trace, step-in exchanges and output-hash list were checked against the recorded SHA-256 values and match; the hashes of the individual output files inside that list can no longer be recomputed. Measured data unchanged.
Success criteria: deadlines decide_soon missed amendments
Setup notes: Batch 19 case u04-renewal-notice-deadlines (offline, synthetic inputs, seed 1249226905). Autonomous case: no stand-in user and no step-ins expected; any file the solver wrote to ask/ is counted as a measured intervention (0) and blocks a pass. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Hidden key kept outside the solver's work dir. Scored with the case's scorer (python3 score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR, absolute paths); pass = every check true and no ask/ files. Tools: Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash, web disabled. Single run, no retries. 1-min load average at scoring 0.11 (8 cores). Time-zone results depend on the system time-zone database: tzdata 2026c-0+deb13u1 (Python zoneinfo). Claude Code's own reported cost for claude-opus-5.5: $0.132464. Score: 4/4. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured tokens x pricing.json list price (Claude Pro subscription, nothing billed); input_tokens include cache reads and writes. Single run.
Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

I checked the output by reading it through; there's no answer key to compare against.\n\n**Decide within 30 days** (deadline between 2026-10-20 and 2026-11-19):\n\n| Contract | Notice deadline | Term end |\n|---|---|---|\n| CT-358 | 2026-10-29 | 2026-12-13 |\n| CT-315 | 2026-10-30 | 2026-11-30 |\n| CT-303 | 2026-11-13 | 2026-12-14 |\n| CT-335 | 2026-11-16 | 2027-02-14 |\n\nCT-358 has the earliest deadline, nine days away. That deadline is for its next term, because the current one was missed.\n\n**Current-term deadline already passed** (these will renew): CT-316, CT-328, CT-358 and CT-387. For each one the file reports the next term instead.\n\n- **CT-387 has no deadline you can still meet.** Its renewal term is 1 month but notice is 3 months, so even the next term's deadline (2026-08-27) passed before today. I reported that date as the rules say. Since it isn't from today onward, CT-387 is not in the 30-day list. In practice, every future deadline for this contract will already have passed when its term starts.\n- **Amendments:** CT-320 is the only contract with a signed amendment. That amendment turned off auto-renewal, so CT-320 is left out. All the other amendments were drafts and I ignored them.\n- **Excluded contracts:** CT-340, CT-347, CT-348, CT-354 and CT-375 don't auto-renew, so they're left out too.\n- **How renewal dates are worked out:** each renewal term is counted from the day after the previous term ended, not from the original start date. After a short month the day of the month can drift. For example, CT-387's start day moves from the 29th to the 28th after a February. If the checker measures every term from the original start date instead, a few dates could differ by a day.\n\nThe script I used is `/tmp/r.py`, outside the work folder.",
