Summary
Exact prompt
# Work out a veterinary practice's dispensed tablets and charges from weight-based doses, tablet splitting and a wellness-plan discount Inputs: `patients.csv` (patient_id, client_id, species, weight, weight_unit, wellness_plan), `drugs.json` (per drug: mg_per_kg, strength_mg, splittable, unit_price), `prescriptions.csv` (rx_line, patient_id, drug, doses_per_day, days) and `fees.json` (dispensing_fee, plan_pct). All clients and animals are synthetic; amounts are in dollars. These rules are the practice's policy; where `nurse-note.txt` disagrees, the rules win. Rules: - Weight: weight_unit lb converts to kg at 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg (don't round the result). - Dose: dose_mg = mg_per_kg × weight in kg. Tablets per dose = dose_mg / strength_mg rounded to the nearest 0.5 tablet if the drug is splittable, otherwise to the nearest whole tablet (exact halves round up), and never less than 0.5 tablet (splittable) or 1 tablet (not splittable). - Quantity: tablets dispensed = tablets per dose × doses_per_day × days, rounded up to a whole tablet. - Price: medication = tablets dispensed × unit_price. A patient on the wellness plan (wellness_plan yes) gets plan_pct percent off the medication, rounded half-up to the cent; the plan never discounts the dispensing fee. Line total = medication − discount + dispensing_fee. - Write `out/dispensing.json`: `{"lines": {"<rx_line>": {"tablets_per_dose": <number>, "tablets": <whole number>, "medication": <dollars>, "discount": <dollars>, "total": <dollars>}, ...}, "clients": {"<client_id>": <sum of that client's line totals>, ...}}`. ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.
Turn a synthetic veterinary practice's prescriptions into dispensed quantities and charges. Some weights are in pounds, doses are weight-based and rounded to whole or half tablets with a minimum, courses are rounded up to whole tablets, and wellness-plan members get a discount on medication but not on the dispensing fee. A nurse's note gets the unit, rounding and discount rules wrong. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked).
Success criteria: weight_units dose_rounding quantity plan_pricing client_invoices
Setup notes: Batch 36 case tx01-vet-dosing-dispensing (offline, synthetic inputs, seed 2255023221). Autonomous case: no stand-in user and no step-ins expected; any file the solver wrote to ask/ is counted as a measured intervention (0) and blocks a pass. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Hidden key kept outside the solver's work dir. Scored with the case's scorer (python3 score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR, absolute paths); pass = every check true and no ask/ files. Tools: Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash, web disabled. Single run, no retries. 1-min load average at scoring 0.32 (8 cores). Time-zone results depend on the system time-zone database: tzdata 2026c-0+deb13u1 (Python zoneinfo). Claude Code's own reported cost for claude-opus-5.5: $0.121135. Score: 5/5. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured tokens x pricing.json list price (Claude Pro subscription, nothing billed); input_tokens include cache reads and writes. Single run.
Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

I checked a few lines by hand against the rules.\n\n| Client | Total |\n|---|---|\n| VC-3025 | $5,379.49 |\n| VC-3032 | $1,441.45 |\n| VC-3011 | $322.37 |\n\n**Where I followed the rules over `nurse-note.txt`:**\n- **Weights:** PA-4168's 88.7 lb was converted to about 40.23 kg, not treated as kilograms.\n- **Dose rounding:** tablets per dose round to the nearest half tablet (splittable drugs) or whole tablet, with exact halves rounding up. They are not rounded down. The minimum still applies: RL-123 comes to 0.18 tablets, so it gets 0.5.\n- **Tablet count:** tablets dispensed are always rounded up to a whole tablet, not rounded normally.\n- **Plan discount:** the 10% comes off the medication only, never the $7.25 dispensing fee.\n\n**Doses look clinically implausible, but I left them as given.** The data includes cats weighing 31\u201336 kg and meloxicam at 2.2 mg/kg on 1 mg tablets. That gives results like 79.5 tablets per dose and 4,452 tablets on RL-109. Since the data is synthetic and the rules are policy, I didn't change anything.\n\nThe script that produced the file is `/tmp/vet.py`, kept outside the work folder. It uses exact decimal arithmetic.",
