Summary
Exact prompt
# Bill a month of car park sessions Inputs: `sessions.csv` (every entry/exit recorded by the barrier in October 2026, with whether a shop validated the ticket) and `tariff.json`. Charge each session: - Each calendar day a session touches is charged separately: the tariff's price per started hour on that day, capped at the tariff's daily cap for that day. A day piece runs from entry (or midnight) to exit (or midnight); a piece of 0 minutes costs nothing. - A validated session gets its first `validation_free_hours` hours free: take them off the first day's piece before counting started hours (any free time left over does not move to the next day). - A session shorter than `grace_minutes` minutes from entry to exit is free. - A started hour is any part of an hour: 61 minutes is 2 started hours, 60 minutes is 1. Write `out/parking.json`: `{"charges": {"<session_id>": <amount>, ...}, "by_plate": {"<plate>": <total for that plate>, ...}, "total": <sum of all charges>}` with every session listed (free ones as 0). ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.
Charge every barrier session in a month of a pay-on-exit car park. Each calendar day a stay touches is priced by started hour and capped separately, a shop validation takes free hours off the first day only, and very short stays are free. One cap for a whole multi-day stay, rounding to the nearest hour or charging grace-period stays each change the bill. All amounts are whole multiples of the tariff, so no rounding is involved. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked).
Success criteria: midnight_split validation grace started_hours
Setup notes: Batch 23 case y03-parking-garage-billing (offline, synthetic inputs, seed 13630332). Autonomous case: no stand-in user and no step-ins expected; any file the solver wrote to ask/ is counted as a measured intervention (0) and blocks a pass. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Hidden key kept outside the solver's work dir. Scored with the case's scorer (python3 score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR, absolute paths); pass = every check true and no ask/ files. Tools: Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash, web disabled. Single run, no retries. 1-min load average at scoring 0.58 (8 cores). Time-zone results depend on the system time-zone database: tzdata 2026c-0+deb13u1 (Python zoneinfo). Claude Code's own reported cost for claude-opus-5.5: $0.120633. Score: 4/4. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured tokens x pricing.json list price (Claude Pro subscription, nothing billed); input_tokens include cache reads and writes. Single run.
Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

"result": "I've written `out/parking.json`. It lists all 31 sessions, each plate's total, and a grand total of **462.80**.\n\n**How the rules played out:**\n- **Free sessions:** three short visits (S71616, S71552, S71588) were under the 15-minute grace period and are charged 0. A visit of exactly 15 minutes would be charged, since only stays *shorter* than 15 minutes are free.\n- **Daily cap:** the 18.00 cap applied to several long days, for example S71203 (7h32m), S71202 and S71119.\n- **Sessions past midnight:** each day was charged and capped on its own. S71654 runs from 22 Oct 20:04 to 23 Oct 19:59: 4 started hours on the first day (11.20) plus the second day capped at 18.00, giving 29.20.\n- **Validated sessions:** the 2 free hours came off the first day only. For example, S71434's first-day piece of 4h21m dropped to 2h21m (8.40), and its 26 minutes after midnight cost 2.80, giving 11.20.\n\nI checked those two cross-midnight sessions (S71434 and S71654) by hand and they match the output. No session overlaps the 25 October clock change in the early hours, so daylight saving doesn't affect any charge.\n\n**Totals by plate:** YP61 YSX 96.00, GD46 CTF 76.80, LS26 NVB 54.40, WM26 JCX 40.40, RJ61 TSJ 37.60, CW43 CFM 34.80, XN61 WAJ 34.80, KL39 KAJ 33.60, MN11 GGG 32.00, BV41 SHC 22.40.\n\nThe calculation ran as an inline script, so no extra files were written.",
