Summary

Exact prompt

# Required minimum distributions from a supplied divisor table, with and without delaying the first one `input.json` describes retirement accounts, yearly growth, a **fictional** life-expectancy divisor table and fictional tax brackets. Write `solve.py` (Python 3 standard library only) so that `python solve.py input.json answer.json` builds the year-by-year distribution schedule for two choices and compares the tax. Use only the rules below and the input. We re-run it on fresh inputs, so do not hard-code anything. ## Input `birth_year`, `start_age` (first age with a required distribution), `first_year` (first calendar year to simulate), `accounts` (each with `balance` = balance on Dec 31 of the year before `first_year`), `growth` (one yearly return per simulated year; the number of years simulated is its length), `other_income`, `brackets` (`[lower_bound, rate]` list as in a progressive tax), `divisor_table` (age as string -> divisor). ## Rules 1. All accounts are pooled: the balance is the sum of the account balances. 2. For calendar year Y (index j, Y = first_year + j) the age is Y - birth_year. If age >= start_age, the required amount is rmd = (balance on Dec 31 of the previous year) / divisor(age), else 0. For ages above the table's largest age use the largest age's divisor. 3. Withdrawals happen at the start of the year, then the balance grows: end balance = (previous balance - withdrawal) * (1 + growth[j]). 4. **no_delay**: withdrawal = min(balance, rmd) every year. 5. **delay_first**: the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0 and that rmd is carried to the next year, which withdraws min(balance, its own rmd + the carried amount). The next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance (which was not reduced by the carried amount). After that, same as no_delay. 6. Tax for a year = tax(other_income + withdrawal) - tax(other_income), using the progressive brackets: rate j applies to income above bound j up to bound j+1. 7. `lower_tax` = "no_delay" or "delay_first" (smaller total tax), or "same" if the totals differ by less than 0.005. 8. Round money to 2 decimals only when writing. ## Output `answer.json`: `{"no_delay": S, "delay_first": S, "lower_tax": ...}` where S = `{"rows": [{"year", "age", "rmd", "withdrawal", "tax", "end_balance"}, ... one per simulated year], "total_withdrawn", "total_tax", "final_balance"}`. ## Scoring Hidden checks (partial credit = fraction passed; all must pass), money within 0.011, years/ages/labels exact: `rmd_amounts_no_delay`, `totals_no_delay`, `delay_first_schedule`, `delay_first_totals_and_choice` on the given input; `fresh_run_1`, `fresh_run_2`: the whole answer on fresh inputs. Each run has a 60-second limit.

Pooled accounts, ages above the table, the carried first distribution that does not reduce the next year's base, and bunching tax under progressive brackets. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Cost shown is a list-price estimate (measured tokens x pricing.json list price). Rescore note (Oct 23, 2026): re-scored from the saved work dir: the original scoring step failed to start (exit 127, scorer interpreter missing), so the first score was not a real result. Model output and measured data unchanged.

These are synthetic test cases for comparing AI models, not financial advice.

Success criteria: 1. rmd_amounts_no_delay 2. totals_no_delay 3. delay_first_schedule 4. delay_first_totals_and_choice 5. fresh_run_1 6. fresh_run_2

Setup notes: Use Case Scout batch 9 case j06-required-distributions (offline fixture). Prepared with batch9/prepare.sh; hidden key/tests kept outside the agent's work dir. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Scored with the scout's scorer: `python score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR`. Tools: list_files/read_file/write_file/run_shell (venice-mini-agent v1.3), web disabled. Single run, no retries. Harness: venice-mini-agent v1.3.1 (/workspace/usecase-runner/venice_agent2.py) via the Venice OpenAI-compatible API: same tool loop, system prompt and limits as the cases 02-25 Venice runs (max 25 turns, max_tokens 16000/call, temperature 0.2, Venice system prompt and web search off, per-run cost cap $0.0194, thinking on (model default)). Same task text, work-dir layout and scorer as the Claude runs of this case. Cost = measured per-call tokens x venice_prices.json list price; paid from the Venice DIEM daily allowance. Harness: venice-mini-agent v1.3.1 via Venice OpenAI-compatible API (16000 max tokens/call, $0.0194 run cap). Score: 6/6. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured per-call tokens x pricing.json list price (paid from Venice DIEM allowance; Venice billing not itemized). input_tokens include cached reads. Single run.

Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.

Pool all accounts.\n2. RMD for year Y (age = Y - birth_year):\n - If age >= start_age: `rmd = (balance on Dec 31 of previous year) / divisor(age)`.\n - If age < start_age: `rmd = 0`.\n - If age > max age in divisor table: use divisor of max age.\n3. Withdrawal happens at the start of the year, then growth: `end_balance = (previous_balance - withdrawal) * (1 + growth[j])`.\n4. `no_delay`: `withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)` every year.\n5. `delay_first`:\n - First year where `rmd > 0`: `withdrawal = 0`, and this `rmd` is carried to the next year.\n - Next year: `withdrawal = min(balance, current_rmd + carried_rmd)`.\n - Subsequent years: `withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)`.\n - Note: The `current_rmd` for the year after the delay still uses the balance from the end of the previous year (which was not reduced by the carried amount, because the carried amount was not withdrawn in the first year).\n6. Tax for a year: `tax(other_income + withdrawal) - tax(other_income)`.\n - Progressive tax: `rate j` applies to income above `bound j` up to `bound j+1`.\n7. `lower_tax`: \"no_delay\" or \"delay_first\" (smaller total tax), or \"same\" if difference < 0.005.\n8. "reasoning_content": "Okay, I've implemented the logic. Let me double-check the rules.\n\nRule 5: \"**delay_first**: the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0 and that rmd is carried to the next year, which withdraws min(balance, its own rmd + the carried amount). The next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance (which was not reduced by the carried amount). After that, same as no_delay.\"\n\nMy current implementation of `delay_first`:\n```python\n if mode == 'no_delay':\n withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)\n else: # delay_first\n if not first_rmd_found and rmd > 0:\n withdrawal = 0\n carried_rmd = rmd\n first_rmd_found = True\n elif first_rmd_found and carried_rmd > 0:\n withdrawal = min(balance, rmd + carried_rmd)\n carried_rmd = 0\n else:\n withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)\n```\nWait, if `first_rmd_found` is true but `carried_rmd` is 0, it goes to the `else` block and does `withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)`. This seems correct.\nBut what if `rmd` is 0 in the first year it's supposed to be calculated? The rule says \"the first year with rmd > 0\".\nIf `rmd` is 0, `first_rmd_found` remains `False`.\nOnce `rmd > 0` for the first time, `withdrawal = 0`, `carried_rmd = rmd`, and `first_rmd_found = True`.\nIn the next year, `first_rmd_found` is `True` and `carried_rmd > 0`, so `withdrawal = min(balance, rmd + carried_rmd)` and `carried_rmd` becomes 0.\nIn the following years, `first_rmd_found` is `True` but `carried_rmd` is 0, so it goes to the `else` block: `withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)`.\n\nWait, what if `rmd` is 0 in the year after the first `rmd > 0` year?\nThe rule says: \"the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0 and that rmd is carried to the next year, which withdraws min(balance, its own rmd + the carried amount).\"\nIf the next year's `rmd` is 0, it should still withdraw `min(balance, 0 + carried_rmd)`.\nMy code:\n```python\n elif first_rmd_found and carried_rmd > 0:\n withdrawal = min(balance, rmd + carried_rmd)\n carried_rmd = 0\n```\nThis handles it correctly.\n\nOne detail: \"The next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance (which was not reduced by the carried amount).\"\nMy code:\n```python\n for j in range(len(growth)):\n # ...\n if age >= start_age:\n divisor_age = str(min(age, max_age))\n divisor = float(divisor_table[divisor_age])\n rmd = balance / divisor\n else:\n rmd = 0\n # ...\n end_balance = (balance - withdrawal) * (1 + growth[j])\n # ...\n balance = end_balance\n```\nThe `balance` used for `rmd` is the `balance` at the start of the year, which is the `end_balance` of the previous year.\nIn the `delay_first` case, in the first year with `rmd > 0`, `withdrawal` is 0, so `end_balance = balance * (1 + growth[j])`.\nIn the second year, the `rmd` is calculated using this `end_balance`.\nThe rule says \"The next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance (which was not reduced by the carried amount).\"\nThis is exactly what my code does, because the `withdrawal` in the first year was 0.\n\nWait, let me re-read: \"The next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance (which was not reduced by the carried amount).\"\nThis might be a hint that if we *had* withdrawn the carried amount in the first year, the balance would be lower. But we didn't.\nActually, it's simpler: the `rmd` for year $Y+1$ is based on the balance at the end of year $Y$.\nIn `no_delay`, the balance at the end of year $Y$ is `(balance_Y - rmd_Y) * (1 + growth_Y)`.\nIn `delay_first`, the balance at the end of year $Y$ (the first year with `rmd > 0`) is `(balance_Y - 0) * (1 + growth_Y)`.\nSo the `rmd` for year $Y+1$ will be higher in the `delay_first` case. This is consistent with my code.\n\nLet's test the code with the provided `input.json`.",

        "reasoning_content": "The current implementation seems to follow the rules. Let's double check the rules.\n1. All accounts pooled: `initial_balance = sum(acc['balance'] for acc in data['accounts'])`. Correct.\n2. Calendar year Y, age = Y - birth_year. If age >= start_age, rmd = (balance on Dec 31 of previous year) / divisor(age), else 0. For ages above table's largest age, use largest age's divisor. Correct.\n3. Withdrawals at start of year, then balance grows: end balance = (previous balance - withdrawal) * (1 + growth[j]). Correct.\n4. `no_delay`: withdrawal = min(balance, rmd) every year. Correct.\n5. `delay_first`: first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0 and that rmd is carried to the next year, which withdraws min(balance, its own rmd + carried amount). Next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance. Correct.\n6. Tax for a year = tax(other_income + withdrawal) - tax(other_income). Correct.\n7. `lower_tax` = \"no_delay\" or \"delay_first\" (smaller total tax), or \"same\" if totals differ by less than 0.005. Correct.\n8. Round money to 2 decimals only when writing. Correct.\n\nWait, let's re-read rule 5: \"the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0 and that rmd is carried to the next year, which withdraws min(balance, its own rmd + the carried amount). The next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance (which was not reduced by the carried amount).\"\n\nIn my code:\n```python\n        if mode == 'no_delay':\n            withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)\n        else: # delay_first\n            if not first_rmd_found and rmd > 0:\n                withdrawal = 0\n                carried_rmd = rmd\n                first_rmd_found = True\n            elif first_rmd_found and carried_rmd > 0:\n                withdrawal = min(balance, rmd + carried_rmd)\n                carried_rmd = 0\n            else:\n                withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)\n```\nIf `rmd` is 0 in the first year it's checked, `first_rmd_found` remains `False`.\nIf `rmd > 0` for the first time, `withdrawal = 0`, `carried_rmd = rmd`, `first_rmd_found = True`.\nIn the next year, `first_rmd_found` is `True` and `carried_rmd > 0`, so `withdrawal = min(balance, rmd + carried_rmd)` and `carried_rmd = 0`.\nSubsequent years, `carried_rmd` is 0, so it goes to the `else` and `withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)`.\n\nThis seems correct.\n\nOne detail: \"For ages above the table's largest age use the largest age's divisor.\"\nMy code:\n```python\n    sorted_ages = sorted([int(a) for a in divisor_table.keys()])\n    max_age = sorted_ages[-1]\n    ...\n    if age >= start_age:\n        divisor_age = str(min(age, max_age))\n        divisor = float(divisor_table[divisor_age])\n        rmd = balance / divisor\n```\nThis also seems correct.\n\nWait, I should check if `rmd` can be 0 even if `age >= start_age`. The rule says \"the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0\". If `balance` is 0, `rmd` will be 0.\nIf `balance` is 0, `rmd` is 0. If `balance` is positive, `rmd` will be positive (since divisors are positive).\nSo `rmd > 0` is equivalent to `age >= start_age and balance > 0`.\n\nLet's double check the tax calculation.\n```python\ndef calculate_tax(income, brackets):\n    tax = 0\n    for i in range(len(brackets)):\n        lower, rate = brackets[i]\n        upper = brackets[i+1][0] if i + 1 < len(brackets) else float('inf')\n        if income > lower:\n            taxable_in_bracket = min(income, upper) - lower\n            tax += taxable_in_bracket * rate\n    return tax\n```\nExample: `income = 100,000`, brackets `[[0, 0.0], [14280, 0.1], [40800, 0.18], [96900, 0.26], [193800, 0.34]]`\n- i=0: lower=0, rate=0.0, upper=14280. taxable = min(100000, 14280) - 0 = 14280. tax += 14280 * 0 = 0.\n- i=1: lower=14280, rate=0.1, upper=40800. taxable = min(100000, 40800) - 14280 = 40800 - 14280 = 26520. tax += 26520 * 0.1 = 2652.\n- i=2: lower=40800, rate=0.18, upper=96900. taxable = min(100000, 96900) - 40800 = 96900 - 40800 = 56100. tax += 56100 * 0.18 = 10098.\n- i=3: lower=96900, rate=0.26, upper=193800. taxable = min(100000, 193800) - 96900 = 100000 - 96900 = 3100. tax += 3100 * 0.26 = 806.\n- i=4: lower=193800, rate=0.34, upper=inf. income (100000) is not > 193800.\nTotal tax = 0 + 2652 + 10098 + 806 = 13556.\nThis is the standard progressive tax calculation.\n\nOne more thing: \"Round money to 2 decimals only when writing.\"\nMy `round_result` function:\n```python\ndef round_result(res):\n    rounded_rows = []\n    for row in res['rows']:\n        rounded_row = {k: round(v, 2) if isinstance(v, float) else v for k, v in row.items()}\n        rounded_rows.append(rounded_row)\n    \n    return {\n        \"rows\": rounded_rows,\n        \"total_withdrawn\": round(res['total_withdrawn'], 2),\n        \"total_tax\": round(res['total_tax'], 2),\n        \"final_balance\": round(res['final_balance'], 2)\n    }\n```\nThis rounds the final values. The intermediate calculations are done with full precision.\n\nWait, I should check if `rmd` should be rounded in the output.\nThe output `S` contains `rows` which have `rmd`, `withdrawal`, `tax`, `end_balance`.\nThe rule says \"Round money to 2 decimals only when writing.\"\nMy `round_result` does this for all float values in the rows.\n\nLet's check the `delay_first` logic again.\n\"the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0 and that rmd is carried to the next year, which withdraws min(balance, its own rmd + the carried amount). The next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance (which was not reduced by the carried amount).\"\n\nMy code:\n```python\n        if mode == 'no_delay':\n            withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)\n        else: # delay_first\n            if not first_rmd_found and rmd > 0:\n                withdrawal = 0\n                carried_rmd = rmd\n                first_rmd_found = True\n            elif first_rmd_found and carried_rmd > 0:\n                withdrawal = min(balance, rmd + carried_rmd)\n                carried_rmd = 0\n            else:\n                withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)\n```\nIf `rmd` is 0 for several years, `first_rmd_found` remains `False`.\nWhen `rmd` first becomes `> 0`, `withdrawal` is 0, `carried_rmd` is set to that `rmd`, and `first_rmd_found` becomes `True`.\nIn the *very next year*, `first_rmd_found` is `True` and `carried_rmd > 0`, so `withdrawal = min(balance, rmd + carried_rmd)` and `carried_rmd` is reset to 0.\nIn subsequent years, `carried_rmd` is 0, so it goes to the `else` and `withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)`.\n\nWait, what if `rmd` is 0 in the year *after* the first `rmd > 0` year?\nThe rule says \"the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0 and that rmd is carried to the next year, which withdraws min(balance, its own rmd + the carried amount)\".\nIf `rmd` is 0 in that next year, `withdrawal = min(balance, 0 + carried_rmd)`. This is still correct.\n\nWhat if `rmd` is 0 for all years?\nThen `first_rmd_found` will always be `False`, and `withdrawal` will always be `min(balance, 0) = 0`. Correct.\n\nWhat if `rmd` is `> 0` only in the very last year?\nThen `withdrawal` will be 0 in the last year, and `carried_rmd` will be set, but it will never be used. Correct.\n\nOne more thing: \"For ages above the table's largest age use the largest age's divisor.\"\nMy code:\n```python\n    sorted_ages = sorted([int(a) for a in divisor_table.keys()])\n    max_age = sorted_ages[-1]\n    ...\n    if age >= start_age:\n        divisor_age = str(min(age, max_age))\n        divisor = float(divisor_table[divisor_age])\n        rmd = balance / divisor\n```\nThis is correct.\n\nLet's double check the `lower_tax` condition:\n\"lower_tax = \"no_delay\" or \"delay_first\" (smaller total tax), or \"same\" if the totals differ by less than 0.005.\"\nMy code:\n```python\n    if abs(tax_nd - tax_df) < 0.005:\n        lower_tax = \"same\"\n    elif tax_nd < tax_df:\n        lower_tax = \"no_delay\"\n    else:\n        lower_tax = \"delay_first\"\n```\nThis is correct.\n\nWait, I should make sure I'm using the correct `birth_year`, `start_age`, `first_year` from the input.\n```python\n    birth_year = data['birth_year']\n    start_age = data['start_age']\n    first_year = data['first_year']\n```\nYes, they are.\n\nAnd the `accounts` pooling:\n```python\n    initial_balance = sum(acc['balance'] for acc in data['accounts'])\n```\nYes.\n\nAnd the `growth` loop:\n```python\n    for j in range(len(growth)):\n        year = first_year + j\n        age = year - birth_year\n```\nYes.\n\nAnd the `end_balance` calculation:\n```python\n        end_balance = (balance - withdrawal) * (1 + growth[j])\n```\nYes.\n\nAnd the `total_withdrawn`, `total_tax`, `final_balance` updates:\n```python\n        total_withdrawn += withdrawal\n        total_tax += year_tax\n        balance = end_balance\n```\nYes.\n\nOne final check on the `delay_first` rule:\n\"the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0 and that rmd is carried to the next year, which withdraws min(balance, its own rmd + the carried amount). The next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance (which was not reduced by the carried amount).\"\n\nMy code:\n```python\n        if age >= start_age:\n            divisor_age = str(min(age, max_age))\n            divisor = float(divisor_table[divisor_age])\n            rmd = balance / divisor\n        else:\n            rmd = 0\n```\n`balance` here is the balance on Dec 31 of the previous year.\nIn the `delay_first` case, in the year the first RMD is carried, `withdrawal` is 0, so `end_balance = (balance - 0) * (1 + growth[j])`.\nIn the following year, the new `balance` (which is the `end_balance` of the previous year) is used to calculate the new `rmd`.\nThe `withdrawal` for that year is `min(balance, rmd + carried_rmd)`.\nThis matches the rule: \"The next year's own rmd still uses its previous Dec 31 balance (which was not reduced by the carried amount).\"\nWait, \"not reduced by the carried amount\" means the `rmd` for the second year is calculated using the balance *before* the second year's withdrawal, but *after* the first year's growth.\nMy code does exactly this:\n1. Year 1: `balance` = B0. `rmd1` = B0 / div1. `withdrawal1` = 0. `end_balance1` = (B0 - 0) * (1 + g1) = B1.\n2. Year 2: `balance` = B1. `rmd2` = B1 / div2. `withdrawal2` = min(B1, rmd2 + rmd1). `end_balance2` = (B1 - withdrawal2) * (1 + g2) = B2.\nThis is correct.\n\nWait, I should check if the `divisor_table` keys are always strings.\nThe input says `divisor_table` (age as string -> divisor).\nMy code:\n```python\n    sorted_ages = sorted([int(a) for a in divisor_table.keys()])\n    max_age = sorted_ages[-1]\n    ...\n    divisor_age = str(min(age, max_age))\n    divisor = float(divisor_table[divisor_age])\n```\nThis handles it.\n\nLet's double check the `total_tax` comparison.\n`tax_nd` and `tax_df` are the sums of `year_tax`.\n`year_tax = tax(other_income + withdrawal) - tax(other_income)`.\nThis is correct.\n\nFinal check on the output format:\n`answer.json`: `{\"no_delay\": S, \"delay_first\": S, \"lower_tax\": ...}` where S = `{\"rows\": [{\"year\", \"age\", \"rmd\", \"withdrawal\", \"tax\", \"end_balance\"}, ... one per simulated year], \"total_withdrawn\", \"total_tax\", \"final_balance\"}`.\nMy `round_result` returns this structure.\n\nOne last thing, the `divisor_table` might have ages that are not sequential or might not start at `start_age`.\nThe rule says \"For ages above the table's largest age use the largest age's divisor.\"\nMy code:\n```python\n    sorted_ages = sorted([int(a) for a in divisor_table.keys()])\n    max_age = sorted_ages[-1]\n    ...\n    if age >= start_age:\n        divisor_age = str(min(age, max_age))\n        divisor = float(divisor_table[divisor_age])\n        rmd = balance / divisor\n```\nIf `age` is 75 and `start_age` is 75, but the `divisor_table` only has keys \"76\", \"77\", etc., then `min(75, max_age)` would be 75, and `divisor_table[\"75\"]` would raise a `KeyError`.\nHowever, the problem says \"divisor_table (age as string -> divisor)\" and \"For ages above the table's largest age use the largest age's divisor.\" This implies that for any age between `start_age` and `max_age`, the divisor is in the table.\nLet's check the provided `input.json`. `start_age` is 75, and `divisor_table` has keys from \"72\" to \"105\". So it's fine.\n\nWait, I should make sure I'm not rounding intermediate values.\nMy `simulate` function uses floats for everything and only `round_result` rounds at the end.\nThis is correct.\n\nLet's double check the `total_tax` calculation again.\n`tax_with_withdrawal = calculate_tax(other_income + withdrawal, brackets)`\n`tax_without_withdrawal = calculate_tax(other_income, brackets)`\n`year_tax = tax_with_withdrawal - tax_without_withdrawal`\nThis is the tax *on the withdrawal*.\nThe total tax for the simulation is the sum of these `year_tax` values.\nThis is correct.\n\nOne more thing: \"Round money to 2 decimals only when writing.\"\nDoes this mean I should use `round(v, 2)` or something like `\"{:.2f}\".format(v)`?\nThe output is JSON, so it should be numbers. `round(v, 2)` is appropriate.\n\nLet's check the `delay_first` logic one more time.\n\"the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0 and that rmd is carried to the next year, which withdraws min(balance, its own rmd + the carried amount).\"\nIf `rmd` is 0 for the first few years, the first year it's `> 0` is the one that's delayed.\nExample:\nYear 1: age 74, start_age 75, rmd=0, withdrawal=0\nYear 2: age 75, start_age 75, rmd=100, withdrawal=0, carried=100\nYear 3: age 76, start_age 75, rmd=110, withdrawal=min(balance, 110+100)=210, carried=0\nYear 4: age 77, start_age 75, rmd=120, withdrawal=min(balance, 120)=120\nThis is what my code does.\n\nWait, what if `rmd` is 0 in the first year it *could* have been `> 0` (i.e., `age >= start_age`) because the balance was 0?\nThe rule says \"the first year with rmd > 0 withdraws 0\".\nIf `balance` is 0, `rmd` is 0. So the first year `rmd > 0` is the first year where `age >= start_age` AND `balance > 0`.\nMy code:\n```python\n        if age >= start_age:\n            ...\n            rmd = balance / divisor\n        else:\n            rmd = 0\n        ...\n        if mode == 'no_delay':\n            withdrawal = min(balance, rmd)\n        else: # delay_first\n            if not first_rmd_found and rmd > 0:\n                withdrawal = 0\n                carried_rmd = rmd\n                first_rmd_found = True\n```\nThis correctly identifies the first year where `rmd > 0`.\n\nFinal check on the `lower_tax` comparison:\n`abs(tax_nd - tax_df) < 0.005`\nIf `tax_nd = 100.004` and `tax_df = 100.006`, the difference is `0.002`, which is `< 0.005`, so `lower_tax = \"same\"`.\nIf `tax_nd = 100.000` and `tax_df = 100.010`, the difference is `0.010`, which is `>= 0.005`, and `tax_nd < tax_df`, so `lower_tax = \"no_delay\"`.\nThis is correct.\n\nOne last thing: the `divisor_table` keys are strings.\n`divisor_age = str(min(age, max_age))`\nIf `age` is 106 and `max_age` is 105, `min(106, 105)` is 105, and `str(105)` is `\"105\"`.\n`divisor_table[\"105\"]` will work.\n\nI think the code is solid.",
