Summary

Exact prompt

# Raise a self-storage site's November invoices Inputs: `units.csv` (each storage unit and its current monthly rent), `tenancies.csv` (who rents which unit, move-in and move-out dates, declared contents value, and when they were sent the rent-rise notice), `balances.csv` (unpaid balance carried from October) and `terms.json`. Every amount is in pounds. Invoice every tenancy that occupies its unit on at least one day of November 2026. Invoice rules, per tenancy: - The 6% rent rise applies from 1 November only if the tenant's rent_notice_date is at least 30 days before 1 November; otherwise the old rent applies all month. - A tenancy that starts or ends during November pays rent pro rata: monthly rent x days occupied / 30, counting both the move-in day and the move-out day. - Round the November rent to the cent half-up after the rise and any pro rata. - Insurance is 1.95 per started 1,000 of declared_value, charged for the whole month whatever the days occupied. - A late fee of 10% of the unpaid October balance is added when that balance is more than 0, rounded to the cent half-up. Write `out/invoices.json`: `
<tenancy_id>": <rent>, ...
...
...
<tenancy_id>": <rent + insurance + late fee + unpaid balance>, ...
<sum of totals>}` with every invoiced tenancy and no others. ## How this run works - Work on your own: nobody will answer questions in this task, and writing to `ask/` counts against the run. - Write only under `out/`. Create `out/` if it is missing. Inputs are synthetic; don't fetch anything from the network. - Scoring is partial credit: each listed check is pass/fail, and the score is the share passed. Numbers are compared to within 0.005 unless the task says otherwise.

Invoice a month of self-storage tenancies. A 6% rise applies only where 30 days' notice was given, part months are charged per day over 30 counting both end days, insurance is charged per started thousand of declared value, and unpaid balances attract a 10% late fee. Charging part months in full, applying the rise to everyone or rounding the declared value down each change invoices. Original benchmark task written for usecaserank.com (not based on a specific public post). Headless, offline run on a reproducible fixture. Each run's notes say how its cost was measured (estimates are marked).

Success criteria: rent_rise_notice pro_rata insurance_started_1000 late_fee_and_totals

Setup notes: Batch 24 case z04-self-storage-invoices (offline, synthetic inputs, seed 309628959). Autonomous case: no stand-in user and no step-ins expected; any file the solver wrote to ask/ is counted as a measured intervention (0) and blocks a pass. Prompt = TASK.md verbatim. Hidden key kept outside the solver's work dir. Scored with the case's scorer (python3 score.py WORKDIR KEYDIR, absolute paths); pass = every check true and no ask/ files. Tools: Read/Write/Edit/Glob/Grep/Bash, web disabled. Single run, no retries. 1-min load average at scoring 1.12 (8 cores). Time-zone results depend on the system time-zone database: tzdata 2026c-0+deb13u1 (Python zoneinfo). Claude Code's own reported cost for claude-opus-5.5: $0.120725. Score: 4/4. Cost is an ESTIMATE: measured tokens x pricing.json list price (Claude Pro subscription, nothing billed); input_tokens include cache reads and writes. Single run.

Estimated cost List-price estimate; not actually billed.
I've written `out/invoices.json`. It covers 11 tenancies and the grand total is **£2,834.79**.

**Who's included:** 11 of the 12 tenancies occupy their unit for at least one day of November. ST-7084 moved out on 19 October, so it has no November invoice.

**Rent rise:** a rent notice dated on or before 2 October counts as at least 30 days before 1 November, so it gets the 6% rise. Two cases are worth knowing about:
- **ST-7065:** its notice is dated exactly 2 October, which is exactly 30 days. I treated that as qualifying, so it pays the higher rent pro rata: 129.50 × 1.06 × 24/30 = 109.82.
- **No rise:** ST-7053's notice (10 October) was too late. Neither did the four tenancies moving in during November (ST-7009, ST-7060, ST-7106 and ST-7040's unit-mate rules aside, their notice date is their move-in date). ST-7053 and those new tenancies pay the old rent.

**Calculation details:**
- **Pro rata days:** these count both the move-in and the move-out day. For example, ST-7021 is billed 6 days (1–6 November) and ST-7009 is billed 19 days (12–30 November).
- **Rounding:** I applied the rise and the pro rata first, then rounded the rent once, half-up to the penny.
- **Insurance:** it is 1.95 for each started £1,000 of declared value. A value of exactly £1,000 counts as one block (£1.95), and £3,803 counts as four (£7.80).
- **Late fees:** only the four tenancies with an unpaid October balance get one. The other seven show a late fee of 0.

The script I used is at `/tmp/inv.py`.",
